MY STORY
I'm a creative, fun, hard-working, ambitious 22 year old in my first year in this 'post-grad' life. I grew up in Colorado, in a suburban town, and I always knew I wanted to try something new and see what else was out there. So I planned. Ever since I was 12 I always had a plan. For the day. For the week. For the year. For my future. A little bit excessive, yes… but it helped me know what I want and figure out how to get there. My plans led me to where I always wanted to live which was San Diego, California. I went to the University of San Diego to major in Business Administration and minor in Architecture and after accomplishing that, I'm still here. I decided to stay because I wasn't ready to start over somewhere else quite yet. I like it here and I got a great post-grad first job as an "Emerging Leader" at GEICO. While working in the insurance industry wasn't in my plans, GEICO is a great company that I had interned with in college and from my experience there I saw how much the company invests in the personal development of its future leaders.
In all my planning, while I didn't realize it in this way when I was younger, I was helping myself be more self-aware and grow personally. In the biggest transition yet in my life, where I no longer have school to rely and center my life around, this is the time to make sure I am maximizing my personal and professional development. I'm living a nice and normal post-grad life and trying to make the most of it, just like the majority of people out there even if it seems like it based off of job titles or cities. I'm here to talk about the 'realness' of the real world but also to hype it up to make it the dream.
