FOMO vs. JOMO

THE JOY OF MISSING OUT

These days are filled with social media and 'the busy life'. On social media, we see where everyone is living their best lives and it's only natural that it gives you FOMO. While you can't trust that everything is as great as it seems on social media, there are definitely times where you see your friends on a vacation or having a fun day while you are at work or have already watched 5 episodes on Netflix and you get FOMO.

I'm not discounting FOMO, I get it too and I want to be living my best life, but that doesn't always mean it’s the busy life with every bit of free time filled with meeting friends and doing every fun activity out there. Some days I want my days off to be filled with productivity, fun, and friends, which can be great and super fun or it can be disappointing. If you do all these things when you aren't fully committed, you can easily end up resenting your decisions and wishing you were doing something else.

What no one talks about or documents on social media is JOMO, the joy of missing out. Has no one ever considered this??? When you need to refresh and to just feel energized and happy, you need to do what you want to do! And I doubt that 100% of the time its to live a busy life and the fun life trying to keep up with everything. Sometimes it's laying in bed all morning, other's it just running errands and getting yourself a coffee before going home to get organized and watch Netflix in the afternoon (okay, that's most of the time for me). It doesn't sound exciting, it 'sounds' boring, but after I feel so refreshed and content with myself and my life because I did what I want to do.

Start doing what you want to do whether it goes with the hype of what everyone is doing or not. JOMO is underrated and that doesn't mean you can't feel great about it. You live your best life with some JOMO and some FOMO.
